1 egg
2 tsp baking powder
1 cup whole wheat flour
3/4 tsp kosher salt
1 cup whole milk Greek Yogurt
1 Tbsp baking soda
Everything Bagel seasoning or your favorite seasoning
Preheat oven to 425°. Line baking sheet with parchment paper. Crack egg into a small bowl and whisk to make egg wash. Set aside.
In a medium bowl whisk together flour, salt, and baking powder. Add yogurt. Mix with a fork until well combined.
Lightly dust countertop with flour, remove dough from bowl and knead by hand for about 2 minutes or until smooth and slightly tacky.
Divide into 4 equal servings. Roll each piece out into a rope then join the ends together to form a bagel.
(Optional) You can skip this step if you choose, but it adds moisture and makes the texture much better! In a saucepan bring 2 to 3 cups of water to a boil. You will be adding bagels to it for a quick boil so make sure the water isn’t too close to the top. Very slowly add 1 Tbsp baking soda to the water (adding it slowly prevents it from boiling over). Carefully add 1 bagel. Boil for approximately 15 seconds, then flip and boil for another 15 to 20 seconds. Don't over-boil! Carefully remove the bagel using a large slotted spoon or spatula. Hold it over the water for a moment to allow excess water to drain. Place it on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with each bagel. Continue with Step 6.
Generously brush bagels with egg wash then sprinkle with seasoning.
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. Allow bagels to cool for about 30 minutes before slicing or serving.
