4 lb. whole chicken, skin on
1 Tbsp olive oil
1 Tbsp brown sugar
1 Tbsp smoked paprika
1 tsp chili powder
1 tsp dried thyme
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 1/2 tsp sea salt
1/2 tsp black pepper

Rinse chicken with water and pat dry, both inside and out.
Rub olive oil on the outside of the chicken.
Combine remaining ingredients in a small mixing bowl, rub all over outside of the chicken. Sprinkle a little bit inside the cavity as well.
Add 4 balls of aluminum foil to the bottom of a large slow cooker - this creates a "rack" for the chicken to cook on.
Place the chicken on top of the foil balls. Cover and cook on HIGH for 4-5 hours - internal temperature must be 165 degrees using an instant read or meat thermometer.
