Best Chili Ever

Ingredients

  • 1-1/2 Tbsp olive oil

  • 1 yellow onion, diced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1/2 lb ground beef, 97% lean

  • 2 Tbsp ground cumin

  • 2 Tbsp chili powder

  • 1 Tbsp garlic powder

  • 1-1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

  • 1/4 tsp ground cayenne pepper

  • 2 Tbsp tomato paste

  • 1 cup beef broth

  • 2 14.5-oz cans diced tomatoes

  • 2 15.5 to 16-oz cans red kidney beans, drained and rinsed

  • 2 8-oz cans tomato sauce


Directions

  1. Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add onions and garlic. Cook for 3 minutes, stirring often. Be careful not to let it burn.

  2. Add ground beef. Cook for 5 to 10 minutes or until the beef is no longer pink.

  3. Add all seasonings and tomato paste. Stir until well combined.

  4. Add broth, diced tomatoes (do not drain), tomato sauce, and drained beans. Stir.

  5. Bring to a low boil. Reduce heat to low and allow to simmer gently for 25 to 30, stirring occasionally.

  6. Remove from heat. Divide into 5 equal servings. Let cool for 10 to 15 minutes before serving.
